Με ανοιχτή επιστολή τους, καλλιτέχνες από την Ευρώπη και όχι μόνο υποστηρίζουν την έκκληση Παλαιστίνιων καλλιτεχνών για μποϊκοτάζ του διαγωνισμού της Eurovision 2019, που πρόκειται να πραγματοποιηθεί στο Ισραήλ.
«Εμείς, οι υπογράφοντες καλλιτέχνες από την Ευρώπη και όχι μόνο, στηρίζουμε το κάλεσμα των Παλαιστίνιων καλλιτεχνών για μποϊκοτάζ του διαγωνισμού τραγουδιού Eurovision 2019, που πρόκειται να πραγματοποιηθεί στο Ισραήλ. Όσο οι Παλαιστίνιοι δεν μπορούν να απολαύσουν την ελευθερία, τη δικαιοσύνη και τα ίσα δικαιώματα, δεν θα έπρεπε να υπάρχει συνεργασία με το κράτος που τους αποκλείει από τα θεμελιώδη τους δικαιώματα.
»Στις 14 Μαΐου, μόλις λίγες μέρες μετά τη νίκη του Ισραήλ στη Eurovision, ο ισραηλινός στρατός σκότωσε 62 άοπλους Παλαιστίνιους διαδηλωτές στη Γάζα -μεταξύ των οποίων έξι παιδιά- και τραυμάτισε εκατοντάδες, τους περισσότερους με πραγματικά πυρά. Η Διεθνής Αμνηστία καταδίκασε την πολιτική που εφαρμόζει το Ισραήλ που πυροβολεί με σκοπό να σκοτώσει ή να ακρωτηριάσει και η οργάνωση Human Rights Watch χαρακτήρισε τους θανάτους «παράνομους και προμελετημένους».
»Θα πρέπει να μποϊκοτάρουμε τη Eurovision 2019, αν διοργανωθεί από το Ισραήλ, την ώρα που αυτό συνεχίζει εδώ και δεκαετίες την καταπάτηση των ανθρώπινων δικαιωμάτων των Παλαιστίνιων. Κατανοούμε ότι η E.B.U. (Ευρωπαϊκή Ραδιοτηλεοπτική Ένωση) ζητά από το Ισραήλ να ορίσει ένα χώρο διεξαγωγής του διαγωνισμού που να μην προκαλεί διχασμούς. Θα έπρεπε όμως να ακυρώσει τη διοργάνωση του διαγωνισμού από το Ισραήλ και να την αναθέσει σε μία χώρα με μεγαλύτερο σεβασμό στα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα. Η αδικία διχάζει, ενώ η επιδίωξη της αξιοπρέπειας και των ανθρώπινων δικαιωμάτων ενώνει».
